BioRAFT Simplifying Research Compliance

The Training Module provides the components necessary to implement a comprehensive training program that is easy for researchers and requires minimal time investment for oversight. 

There are three main components to the Training Module:

• Web Training enables easy creation and delivery of online content (PPT Flash, videos, HTML).
• Classroom Training organizes training sessions and enables researchers to sign up online.
• Training Management provides record management and automates requirements setting and notifications.

Web Training

Enables researchers to take all their online training courses directly through BioRAFT using an easy to understand flow and attractive interface. 

Creating Web Courses

While many formats are available, most of our member institutions find it much easier and convenient to create their courses using MS PowerPoint (PPT).  Once the PPT file is handed off to the BioRAFT team it is converted to Flash and posted in the course directory.  This also makes updating courses much easier and the whole process very cost effective.  If other formats are needed, the BioRAFT team is well versed in the latest web technologies and can help you make a course turn out exactly the way you want. 

Courses can be delivered using nearly any format enabling maximum flexibility:

• PowerPoint converted to flash (PPT Flash)
• HTML
• Video
• Flash
• Any combination of formats

Course Quizzes

Quizzes offer an easy way to test the absorbed knowledge after review of the course content.

• Multiple Choice and True/False questions
• Link back to related content from incorrect responses (HTML courses)
• Randomizes questions to ask from a large bank of questions
• Only shows missed questions when retaking quiz

Classroom Training

Classroom Training provides a way to keep track of available in-class training courses. It simplifies the process of organizing training sessions and ensuing that proper records are kept.

• Setup available course sessions through identifying date, time, location
• Researchers can sign up for sessions online and get reminders
• Ability to reconcile who showed for the session and add those who did not signup
• Saves records directly in the database when a session is closed

Training Management

Simplify and automate the tasks of managing training requirements, keeping track of training records, and notifying individuals of pending and delinquent requirements.

Records and Reports

• Keeps track of all web training and classroom training records indefinitely
• Reports for each course, each lab and each person (in profiles)
• Clusters courses into "Training Rules" for easy monitoring of compliance for multiple courses at once

Restrict Access: Furthermore, the Training Module can also be configured to restrict access to features based on training status (e.g. Restrict radioisotope ordering to trained researchers).

Requirements and Reminders

Training requirements can be set manually or set on the lab level so there is no need to manage requirements for each individual researcher.  Requirements can also be set by other BioRAFT modules (e.g. Biomedical safety training requirement for all researchers in a Bio lab).  Researchers receive automatic email notifications when a course is required and periodic reminders thereafter until the course is completed.

• Reduces need to manually audit training records to determine who is due for training
• No more emailing researchers to take training
• PIs automatically receive notification for delinquent training for their researchers (optional)

Integration with External Systems

The Training Module is built to integrate with other systems enabling a wider array of course offerings and oversight capabilities. 

External Systems to BioRAFT: Can be configured to accept training requirements based on information from other systems (e.g. drive training based on job role in HR systems). 

BioRAFT to External Systems: Can manage requirements and send notifications for researchers to complete training in external training systems.
