Frequently Asked Questions - Technical

No and Yes.  BioRAFT was designed in a way that enables it to be "configured" at nearly any level of the application from authentication methods, and look and feel, to plug-in modules.

Configuration is critical to distinguish from customization. Customization typically means that the underlying code is changed to meet specific needs.  While this is great in theory, the result is all too often the inability of the software provider to keep up with all the changes they have made for all their customers.  This translates into a lot of bugs and slow customer service and response to your problems or new needs.  Due to the large drain on their staff, this also typically means higher costs in order for them to generate a profit.  Just ask your IT team.  They have dealt with customized applications and know just how messy it gets.

Configuration on the other hand occurs through administrative screens and plug-in modules so your specific needs can be met without changing the code specifically for you. BioRAFT, as a result, has very high customer satisfaction ratings and is able to rapidly meet new needs.

If you have a question about a specific need, please contact us.

The short answer: We regularly work with with internal IT teams to ensure that security and privacy requirements are met.  The best approach is to simply have your IT team contact us to start a dialog.

The longer answer:  Security and privacy requirements, while they can differ to some degree between institutions/companies, are often very similar across the industry.  They generally are based on two factors, laws and industry best practices. BioRAFT was developed with these in mind and most often meets even the most stringent security audits without any need for modification.  At times, institutions/companies have very specific requirements such as, specific technologies necessary for binding to the user directory server.  The BioRAFT team is well versed in standards based technologies and works well with internal IT teams to ensure that requirements are met.  The best approach is to put us in contact with your internal IT team.
